Is your bank account in the Green?

I wrote previously about how high speed broadband could contribute towards living a greener lifestyle. This got me thinking about other ways in which small changes in our lifestyles can affect the environment. A quick Google search showed that several companies are attempting to make themselves and their customers more eco friendly.

HSBC are trying to cut down on the amount of paperwork associated with each Bank account. They now offer a Green Account which is mostly accessed online. Customers who choose to go green will not receive any paper statements or paper marketing. This seems to be a positive and inevitable step. The amount of paper saved if every customer changed to a paperless Savings account would be considerable. As well as the sense of satisfaction which comes with being ecologiaclly friendly customers can recieve £5 to add to their Savings.

As well as bank accounts it is now possible to find green stationary, green toys, green taxis and green pet products!
