Video of the Week: Under Water Base Jump

09Jun10

As if base jumping off a giant building or cliff wasn’t terrifying enough, how about doing one under water? The following video shows world champion free diver Guillaume Nery jumping down an sub aquatic ‘blue hole‘ (basically an under water vertical cave). He does so without the aid of breathing apparatus.

The video is actually a work of fiction but must have been incredibly difficult to film. The blue hole this was filmed in is called Dean’s blue hole and is 202 meters deep. So far the record depth archived by a free diver at this location is 100 meters by Walter Steyn.
