Banning Tobacco Displays

Instead of banning logos on the cigarette packets, how about banning the contents.

In a previous life I worked for a retail company. ‘Merchandising’ was of crucial importance to tobacco companies. Each tobacco company pays BIG money to have their wares displayed. The current proposal, as I understand it, stops all display. This hits the tobacco companies where it hurts – in the advertising.

80% of the population smoked 60 yrs ago

I believe there is evidence that measures to educate people as regards the dangers of smoking have actually worked, I believe 80% of the population smoked 60 yrs ago, i believe that figure is now 22%.
